Sustainable technology is a framework of solutions that enable environmental, social and governance outcomes at scale. Executive leaders need to prioritize technology investments in these issues to improve quality, scale and impact beyond what spreadsheets can provide.

Meet the panelists:

Ian Lee
Head of Innovation & Experience Design, Capco

Ian leads Capco’s ESG Practice in Canada. He is a 20-year veteran of strategic consulting, digital and business transformation, and specializes in modernizing enterprise business models and capabilities, with a particular focus on:

  • Sustainable financial product design
  • Data strategy and governance for ESG reporting
  • Risk/compliance advisory for net zero transition planning

Prior to joining Capco, he led Digital Advisory Services as CTO for Microsoft Canada, and was National Go-To-Market Leader for Microsoft’s Sustainability offerings.  

Frances Edmonds
Head of Sustainable Impact, HP Canada

Frances Edmonds is the Head of Sustainable Impact at HP Canada, where she is responsible for business development and oversees Corporate Social Responsibility programs nationally. With a focus on sustainable procurement, Frances is driving meaningful change cross-sector that supports a more circular and sustainable economic future for Canada. With more than 30 years of experience, Frances is recognized as one of Canada’s top sustainability professionals having received two Clean 50 awards and has led HP to became the most sustainable technology company in Canada.

Passionate about driving change through education, Frances has developed and implemented volunteer programs globally for HP. She sits on the board of Learning for a Sustainable Future and serves as a consultant for academic institutions on sustainability strategies. She also sits on the Sustainable Development Advisory Council for the Minister of Environment and Climate Change Canada as well as the Expert Panel on the Circular Economy in Canada as assembled by the Council of Canadian Academies. 

As seen on stages including TEDx, Frances is both a guest lecturer and speaker on a wide range of topics including the circular economy. With a degree in Environmental Science from Bradford University (UK) and a post-graduate diploma in Occupational Health and Safety, Frances is also a Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP).

Rita Lazar-Tippe
Director of Information, Insights, Innovation & IT Operations, Alberta Pensions Services Corporation (APS)

Rita Lazar-Tippe has over 25 years of experience in Digital Transformation and Innovation, comprising of private, public, and not-for-profit sectors. In her current role with Alberta Pensions Services Corporation, she serves as the Director of Information, Data Insights, Corporate Innovation, and IT Operations. The organization provides administrative services to more than 500 employers across Alberta with over 370,000 members and pensioners and administers over $6 billion annually in pension plan funds on behalf of several Pension Plan Corporations. Rita has created and is executing on a multiyear strategic plan to deliver a 360 view of the member and pensioner, shifting to a self-service data model, incorporating AI to elevate business insights and decision making, implementing a corporate wide innovation program to both optimize and enhance the employee, client, member, and pensioner experience.

Rita serves on the CIO Association of Canada (CIOCAN) National Board and has earned an ESG Competent Board designation. She has also been awarded the CIOCAN 2022 Impact President's Award, IT World Canada 2021 CIO of the Year, and The Channel Company North America East top 20 most Innovative Midmarket CIOs.

Meet the moderator:

Doria Manico-Daka
Manager, IT, Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO)

Doria Manico-Daka is an innovative business and technology leader with more than 15 years of experience in the private and not-for-profit sectors. She is passionate about digital transformation and modernization. An effective collaborator and negotiator, Doria currently leads cross-functional teams of technology professionals at Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO). She is responsible for the delivery and support of all aspects of IT and cyber security strategy.

Prior to joining PEO, Doria worked for tech and managed services companies such as BlackBerry, Eastlink and CentriLogic. A strong believer in the power of technology, she uses her tech background to help her organization make the most out of technology investments as they modernize.

Doria is a member of the board of directors at CIO Association of Canada. She holds a Master of Engineering in Internetworking and a Bachelor in Computer Science.
