What happens when AI adoption gets ahead of the strategy?

Drawing on a CIOCAN roundtable of Canadian technology leaders, this fireside conversation brings together Lenovo field CTO John Encizo, Digital Journal senior contributing editor David Potter and CIOCAN member & Vice President, Digital Services at Associated Engineering Group Ltd., Bryce Berry, to discuss what organizations are learning as AI moves from experiments into everyday operations.

We'll also introduce a new paper on what those leaders shared, covering process and data readiness, AI agents, cost models that don't fit annual budgets and IT's growing role in leading change across the business.

Speakers:

John Encizo, Field CTO and Director of Enterprise AI for North America, Lenovo

John started in IT doing desktop support for a hospital during the Y2K years and has since worked his way up through the ranks, serving as a systems administrator, server engineer, Solution Architect and global SME on Lenovo infrastructure platforms. As an expert generalist, he focuses on business, technical and AI strategy through the lens of digital transformation, process optimization, solution architecture and design thinking. He often consults with customers on infrastructure platforms and datacenter design strategies by analyzing future trends, working with organizations to identify technology and process gaps and helping executive leaders re-imagine their use of business technology as a transformation engine.

Bryce Berry, Vice President, Digital Services, Associated Engineering Group Ltd.

After moving from a farm in Saskatchewan to the oilfields of Alberta in 1997, Bryce steadily advanced through roles in software development, support, project management, and ultimately IT leadership. Following nearly 20 years at Precision Drilling, Bryce spent more than a decade at Norton Rose Fulbright, a global law firm, serving much of that time as CIO. Bryce recently transitioned to a similar role at Associated Engineering and is excited for what’s to come. A strong believer in continuous learning and improvement, Bryce is always eager to take on new challenges.

David Potter, Senior Contributing Editor, Digital Journal

David brings years of experience in tech marketing, where he’s honed the ability to make complex digital ideas easy to understand and actionable.
